ST. CLOUD, MINN. — Despite opening a three-score lead in the first quarter, Moorhead lost to St. Cloud Tech 24-17 Friday night in Minnesota high school football.
Keenan Wendt rushed for a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter, while Caden Triggs added a field goal to give the Spuds a 17-0 lead.
The Spuds defense held until halftime, but the Tigers began their comeback shortly thereafter. St. Cloud Tech scored a 13-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter, then Kedrik Osuorah added a 5-yard score in the fourth quarter.
St. Cloud Tech scooped up a Moorhead fumble and returned it 74 yards for the decisive tally late in the quarter.
Wendt led all players with 162 yards gained on the ground and a pair of scores. The Spuds outgained St. Cloud Tech 287 to 122.
With the loss, Moorhead dropped to 4-3. The Spuds conclude the regular season at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Bemidji.
