ST. CLOUD — Tech High School announced Thursday hiring Christian Pekarek as the new head coach for boys basketball, according to Tech activities director David Langerud.
Pekarek grew up in Little Falls and attended Upsala High School before going to Bemidji State University. He played men’s basketball with the Beavers and had career stats of 39.8 percent from the 3-point line, 38.9 percent from the field and starting 79 of the 96 games he played in at college.
Pekarek will replace Mike Trewick, who had retired from the position after the 2018-19 season but returned to it in January after new head coach Brent Petermeier left the program. School officials did not comment on Petermeier’s departure.
Trewick had been the coach for the previous 10 years. More details on Pekarek’s hiring are expected Friday.
This is a developing story. Check back later for more details.
