- Technology is the most important way for an organization to improve its HR services, according to workers and HR pros responding to a Green Circle Life survey.
- More than half (53%) of respondents said employees generally are happy with the HR services and benefits their employers offer; 40% said they were somewhat happy and 7% said they were not happy.
- The survey also examined employers’ top utilization strategies. Roughly 27% said they use an integrated HRIS and benefits enrollment platform to encourage employees to learn about and use their benefits. Slightly less said they promote these resources online and only 19% said they print a benefits guide for employees.
When it comes to employee benefits, confusion and underutilization remain a constant hurdle for employers. In fact, about one-third of employees either know nothing about or don’t fully understand their healthcare coverage, according to 2019 Maestro Health research.
And as the Green Circle Life survey revealed, many are turning to tech to address those issues. Experts have warned, however, that employers must be strategic in choosing such solutions; when workplace apps become numerous, employee adoption can fall, along with productivity.
Above all else, HR may want to prioritize quality communication around benefits and other HR services. Helen Calvin, chief revenue officer at Jellyvision, suggested in an op-ed for HR Dive that employers personalize communication, avoid jargon and send messages when they’re most relevant.
