Technical Tidbits 10/22: Georgia Tech Homecoming Game Gets A Non-Noon Kickoff – From The Rumble Seat

10/23/2019 by admin

This is the perfect starting time for the Georgia Tech homecoming game next week against Pitt. It gives the many fans that are returning to Tech an ample amount of time to tailgate, but also gets the game over with early enough to do something in the evening. It should be a great weekend of fun, fellowship, and nostalgia on The Flats. Don’t mind that the game is on a RSN.

Pressley Harvin III’s TD pass on Saturday was probably the play of the year for Georgia Tech. That and his punting ability was duly rewarded by the ACC as the conference named him Co-Specialist of the Week. This is the first of what will likely be a few more Specialist of the Week awards. Congratulations, Pressley!

The article above gives great perspective from a former Yellow Jacket kicker. Scott Blair threw a 34-yard touchdown pass on a fake field goal against Clemson in 2009, and was watching when Harvin III threw his touchdown pass. The comparison between the two is pretty neat to read, and the respective throws both provided a key play on the way to victories.

SG Tristan Maxwell committed to Georgia Tech yesterday, the son of former NBA player Vernon Maxwell. Maxwell is a three-star recruit according to 247Sports, and is from North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville, NC. Maxwell chose Georgia Tech over 11 other offers including Gonzaga, NC State, and Georgetown. This is a solid pickup for the Jackets, as it will increase guard depth and hopefully provide a solid-shooter to replace Jose Alvarado when he moves on from Georgia Tech. Congratulations, Tristan!

I am assuming word travels fast. So I wanted to be able to inform everyone that I did have a heart attack this morning. I am doing fine. As I went through the experience I had peace knowing I was going to heaven but I was going to miss my wife. I plan to be at work this week.

Georgia Tech and Mark Richt have had a complicated relationship over the past few years, as he coached against Tech at while georgia and Miami. I was saddened to hear yesterday that he had a heart attack, but am glad he’s doing well and will be back on TV soon. Recover quickly, Mark!

Question of the Day: How do you feel about Georgia Tech Basketball’s new commit?
