In yesterday’s Tidbits, my colleague Jake wrote about the potential that Notre Dame safety Derrik Allen could join Tech as a transfer student athlete. Well, it’s official. The former four-star recruit from the state of Georgia is returning home. He made the announcement on Twitter yesterday (see the Tweet below).
This makes it the fourth such four-star recruit from the Peach State to return home to play for the Yellow Jackets this year. This is great news for Collins and the Yellow Jackets coaching staff.
So, over the summer, we’ve talked a lot about the fledgling ACC Network. There’s been a lot of speculation about which cable providers and streaming services would pick it up. Here’s the latest information we have:
Providers and streaming services who have picked up the ACC Network:
- Verizon Fios
- Google Fiber
- YouTube TV
- PlayStation Vue
Those who have not yet made a deal with ESPN (who owns the ACC Network):
- AT&T U-Verse
- Dish Network
It’s surprising that some of these big name providers have still not picked up the ACC Network. You’d imagine with as many viewers as they have in the Atlanta area that they would have. There’s 10 days before the network’s launch, so there’s still time. Let’s see what happens. As I’ve mentioned before, in the worst case, if your provider doesn’t carry it you can always switch to one of the providers that do carry it, or even do so on a trial basis. It’s better than missing out on the action.
Well, here we go, as I thought they might do before the season kicks off, Tech is having another giveaway. There will be three prizes with first prize being a $500 gift card the the GT Bookstore. That would be a great way to stock up on some great Tech gear for the upcoming season. More info here.
Welcome the newest Yellow Jacket Derrik Allen!
