The economic reopening is a reality in countries that were affected by the pandemic before Colombia. For example, in Spain, Germany or France, thousands of businesses have already started operations, governed by strict biosafety protocols.
In this sense, Colombia – after more than 100 days since the first case was detected – is barely reaching a quarantine phase in which, although many citizens may already leave, trade has not yet been fully reactivated and there is little They are taking measures to safeguard people’s health and mitigate the impact of the pandemic.
For this reason, technology took more force than ever in the daily lives of millions of people. This is evidenced by the adoption of new devices, such as thermal cameras that allow the body temperature of multiple users to be measured in a few seconds.
Likewise, progress was made in the implementation of autonomous vehicles for home delivery. For example, the Rappi platform started pilot tests a few weeks ago so that its order deliveries would be through these carts, which can be controlled remotely and offer all the benefits of social distancing.
Among other solutions, the Johns Hopkins University information board “is receiving more than 3 million visits per hour. This use of the system is primarily due to the use of authoritative and reliable sources of information on covid-19, ”explains Paul Ross, Esri’s senior manager. And these types of solutions “provide useful information.”
“We can detect 5,000 people in half an hour, much faster than with a traditional means and with a certainty of 0.3 degrees. The cameras are ideal for a first detection at the entrances to airports, shopping centres and even offices, ”explained Carlos Wu, Colombia manager at Dahua Technology.
Just over two weeks ago, this thermal camera technology was implemented at the Transient Hospital Center of Bogotá, installed to serve patients who require hospitalization and have not been diagnosed with covid-19.
The solution installed at the pedestrian entrance of the place has an accuracy of plus or minus 0.3 ° C.In this sense, if someone enters the hospital and has a temperature above 38 degrees Celsius, the camera activates an audible and visual alarm to initiate the necessary medical protocols.
“ With this solution, from the company, we support, through our preliminary control, the efforts of health entities to protect patients transferred to the Transitory Hospital Center. For Dahua, it is necessary to carry out joint work in order to keep track of what our camera considers an alert, ”said Wu.
This technology has already been implemented in more than 50 countries and is distributed in shopping centres, banks, business parks, airports and public places with a high concentration of people. This in order to mitigate the risk of contagion from the virus, since its rapid installation has allowed for greater control.
In this sense, the use of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth networks were also considered as a key tool for the reopening of shopping centres.
“This is the most effective response that businesses have to operate in the midst of this situation since through tools such as Wi-Fi, companies can obtain the data of their users and know their behaviour within establishments”, said Edwin Pardo, co-founder of DataWifi, a Colombian company that is a pioneer in data analysis and collection.
Biosafety and intelligent transit spaces are strategies that, thanks to the technology offered by Wi-Fi, they manage the influx of public by space and provide citizens with protection measures to avoid contact with infectious agents, “added Pardo.
And he added that Wi-Fi gives businesses the possibility of establishing a communication channel with visitors through which they can have a pertinent information crossing.
” With this technology, it is also possible to send messages to users or promote pandemic prevention campaigns that raise awareness among visitors, ” concludes Pardo.
