The internet is obsessed with the hot goss about Taylor Swift and Gong Yoo grabbing lunch

There were two things that were absolutely in everybody’s mouths for much of this year: Taylor Swift (as usual) and Squid Game (and if not, catch up!). Naturally, then, if those two worlds were ever to clash, it would lead to plenty of panic and chaos and minds generally imploding.

Thanks to a new rumour that dropped this week, that kinda sorta did happen. On Wednesday, to be specific, when a fan wrote into DeuxMoi (the Instagram gossip collector, so take this with a grain of salt) saying their friend had spotted Swift having lunch in New York City with Squid Game actor Gong Yoo. Said friend worked at the restaurant they were allegedly noshing at, but didn’t serve them. Convenient!

Now, if you don’t know Gong Yoo, it’s best to get acquainted. The handsome 42-year-old South Korean actor did indeed co-star on the Netflix series Squid Game, but also Train to Busan, The Age of Shadows,  and the series Coffee Prince and Guardian: The Lonely and Great God. The rumours have, of course, been swirling as to what the two might have been doing together.

The consensus is they’re likely working on a project, and what seems the likeliest is Swift’s next music video for her album Red (Taylor’s Version). Naturally, the children are beside themselves.

And before you suggest the two were on a date – don’t. By any means. Not only because as far as we know, Swift is still in a long-term relationship with actor Joe Alwyn, but because her legion of fans may descend upon you, having already sternly declared on Twitter that, “Bitch, she has a boyfriend. A lunch is not dating.”

Whatever the case, there is one thing we do know: Gong Yoo looks quite fetching in a red scarf. Ahem.
