Tuscaloosa city officials have launched a community survey to gather input for a new municipal website.
Tuscaloosa city officials are seeking advice from local residents in preparation of an overhaul of the city‘s municipal website.
An online survey asks residents, business owners and others to provide feedback on the city’s current website as well as offer ideas for upgrades and improvements.
The survey takes about three minutes to complete and will be available until 5 p.m. on Feb. 17.
“Anyone who lives in or regularly interacts with the city of Tuscaloosa is encouraged to complete this short survey to make their voice heard,” said Communications Director Richard Rush in a press release announcing the survey.
The city of Tuscaloosa’s website was last updated in 2017 after months of planning and $175,000 of investment.
Intended to make the user experience easier, it did that in some ways but not in others.
The city’s contract with The Nine, a Tuscaloosa-based website design and development company, also included the use of proprietary software, making it sometimes difficult for city staff members to update the website’s information from within City Hall.
A new website is meant to counter some of these hurdles when the new website was launched with a search bar at the top of the home page that was intended to provide the requested information based on the entry of a few key words.
However, not all city-based information was easily accessed through this search functionality, something else that Rush and other city officials want to change.
